The Cottage Garden
verbena, pentas and heliotrope and a butterfly
snapdragons (Antirrhinum "Rocket"), hyssop (Agastache "Acapulco Rose"), larkspur (Delphinium "Blue Butterfly"), bachelor button (Centurea montana), yarrow (Achillea "Coronation Gold").
Different angle of the plants above.
Close up of a velvety red snapdragon.
Spider flower (Cleome "Sparkler Rose"). This brand new cultivar is shorter than the general species making it better suited to a small garden.
View from the curb. million bells, verbena, pentas, heliotrope.
Campanula "Birch Hybrid". This low growing plant was newly planted in between the rocks that border my garden. Hopefully, by next year, it will have taken off.
Butterfly garden
Stoke's aster (Stokesia laveis "Bluestone")
tickseed (Coreopsis "Zagreb") and butterfly weed (Asclepias "Hello Yellow")
Yarrow (Achillea milleflorium "Summerwine"). Just starting to bloom.
Bee balm (Monarda didyma "Raspberry Wine") completely decimated by the horsemint caterpillar. I cut down almost every blossom.
Butterflies
Morning Cloak, just hanging out on my Rhododendrum. This butterfly is particularly long lived (almost a year).
Silver Spotted Skipper sipping at a Pentas (thanks to the lovely people
at the Gardenweb Butterfly forum for iding these butterflies)
